Five blog post ideas for small businesses
Small-business owners are busy. As an entrepreneur, myself, I know how hard it can be to manage all aspects of a business, plus your marketing. Maintaining a blog may sound like a cumbersome task, but it's a great way to keep your website content fresh. And, in turn, Google will reward you in search rankings. If you find yourself struggling for topics to write about, here are five business blog post ideas that will connect with customers.
ENRICH READERS IN THE HISTORY OF YOUR BUSINESS
Being seen as a leader in your industry is paramount. In plain language, tell readers the story behind your business. Spare them the jargon and relate to them on an emotional level about your entrepreneurial dreams. Demonstrate your knowledge in the industry to build trust and share your expertise. The more you do this, the more your customers will turn to you over your competitors.
CREATE A GUIDE FOR READERS RELATED TO YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE
Readers love free stuff – and education is just one of many things you can offer for free. Start by selecting a topic in your industry that will intrigue your readers and offer them value. For example, as a freelance writer, I often blog about writing tips for my audience.
If you’re stumped for ideas, browse social media for hot topics or issues in your niche. Then, write a guide on that topic, which solves a particular problem for readers. As an example, one of my blogs educates readers on how to overcome writers block. Creating helpful guides like this, again, puts you in a position to be seen as an expert in your field.
SHARE SOME FUN FACTS
If you can shed a new light on a topic or share some rare information about your industry, readers will love it. Try to stand out and be unique; find little-known, humorous or informative facts about your field and share them in a blog post.
SHOWCASE UP AND COMING INDUSTRY TRENDS
Consumers love to try and predict the future. While they definitely love reading about what’s hot in an industry, they also want to know what’s on the horizon. If you can share insight about where your particular industry or brand is headed, you’ll be rewarded with a strong readership.
WRITE ABOUT YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK, APP OR TOOL
People thrive off the recommendations of other people, especially successful people. They feel that with the right tools, they too can find success. If you show people what you use to do your job, chances are they’ll consider using it too. For example, I wrote a blog about some of the most useful apps for freelancers, like myself. Readers loved it! Consider writing a roundup of all the products and services you use to run your business.
